The Cayman Islands Investment Bureau was recently represented at the Caribbean Central American Action 29th Annual Miami Conference, themed A Prosperous Third Border.
The conference brought together leaders from the public sector, business community and civil society to engage in constructive dialogue to address current prospects for improving the economic well-being of people living and working in Central America and the Caribbean, said a GIS press release.
More than 500 delegates from around the region attended the event, including several heads of state and ministers, as well as high-ranking officials in the US Government.
‘It was encouraging that many of the discussions highlighted the need for small business growth and the development of human capital as key drivers for the future prosperity of Caribbean countries,’ said Executive Director of the CIIB, Dax Basdeo.
‘This reflects the importance of social development, especially in the areas of education and entrepreneurship, as a necessary contributor to economic development.’
This is the second year the CIIB has attended the CCAA Miami Conference but the first time participating as an exhibitor. Also in attendance were representatives from the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce and Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd.
