Cleanup targets drug use

Clearing up crime is not the only kind of cleaning up on the minds of some of Cayman’s community concerned cops.

As part of an ongoing drive to clean up some untidy areas in order to deter their use by drug users, local officers recently took part in a clean-up in West Bay.

Several officers from the West Bay police station were among those involved in clearing the land after several residents expressed concern about drugs being used in the area.

The clean-up, which took place just after the New Year holiday, had the support and co-operation of the community and local businesses.

‘Rollins Heavy Equipment donated the time and the equipment for the operation and the RCIPS would like to publicly thank them for their assistance,’ said police liaison officer Maria McLean.

‘The RCIPS could not have completed this task without them,’ she said.

”This is a great example of the police, private companies and the community working together in the fight against crime,’ she added.
