Track records shattered

It did not take long for Michael Letterlough and Ronald Forbes of Florida International University to rack up successes in the 2006 indoor track season.

In their first meet of the year at the University of Florida Gator Invitational, Michael broke his own F.I.U. record in the weight throw, and Ronald tuned in commendable performances in the 55 meter hurdles, and as member of the 4 x 400 meter relay squad.

Michael added almost three feet to the previous F.I.U. weight throw mark, as he finished seventh in the event with a best toss of 16.75 meters, or 54’11 1/2″.All three of his legal throws bettered his former record.

The achievement is also a new Cayman Islands National Record.

Ronald qualified for the finals of the 55 meter event with a time of 7.70 seconds, and lolwered that to 7.62 to finish fourth-best among the collegian entrants.

In the 4 x 400 meter relay, his second-leg effort helped the Golden Panther quartet to a fifth-place finish at 3:24.34
