Kindly report animal abuses

The Cayman Islands Humane Society congratulates the Department of Agriculture for recently establishing the Animal Health and Welfare Office.

The Humane Society understands that as of 1 February the DOA expects to have an officer appointed to the Animal Health and Welfare Office. This is in addition to the recent appointment of the Senior Animal Health and Welfare Officer.

Not a moment too soon as a defenseless dog was treated, Friday, 20 January, by Island Veterinary Services for wounds that had been inflicted by being brutally chopped.

Where are the justice and the spokesperson for this dog?

We applaud the officials who have started an investigation into this horrific abuse. We are hopeful they will be successful in their discoveries and will not shy away from what needs to be done to prosecute the abuser.

We support and encourage the Animal Welfare Office to investigate, prosecute and bring to justice those who abuse all animals.

Dr. Brenda Bush of Island Veterinary Services and her dedicated staff work miracles everyday. After almost a full day of emergency surgery and care, Dr. Brenda was able to save this dog.

Animal abuse happens too often.

Unfortunately the list goes on but to understand, one needs to know. Another example of abuse was not long ago another dog was cruelly attacked when its snout was almost entirely severed. Thanks to the expertise and commitment of Dr. Elizabeth, also of Island Veterinary Services, this animal was saved and the Humane Society managed to get the funds together to help pay for the necessary surgery to restore the poor animal’s nose.

The Cayman Islands Humane Society takes in many abused dogs and cats that need a loving home.

Until now the Humane Society has tried to expose those who have abused their pets…. horrible and cruel treatments of animals have been reported. However, without the ability to arrest and prosecute the criminal actions of these vicious people they will continue to have the freedom to do as they will. This is wrong.

The Humane Society looks forward to working with the Animal Welfare Office to stop animal abusers.

Please help those who can not defend themselves. If you know of any animal abuses please report it immediately. You can anomalously report the abuse to:
