A special group of students will be involved in a Governors Day Project to educate children on safety 4 March.
Guest speakers include authority figures around the island such as police officers, firemen etc.
The special students are part of the Cayman Islands Key Club, which is a service-based organization for high school students teaching leadership skills and community support.
Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Grand Cayman, the members do service based projects around the community.
Some included a reading activity in September at the After School Care Programme where they spent time reading to children and a tree planting project in the South Sound area.
There are four clubs on the island: John Gray High School, Triple C, Cayman Prep and High School and St. Ignatius.
Paul Chin-Sinn is the president of the John Gray High School Club and is Lt. Governor responsible for all four clubs on island, which make up Division 25B of the Florida District.
Each year Key Club members adopt a different theme and this year the theme is children.
A big project involving every school, involving the boys home and girls home is planned for this year in which a teenager will be paired with a child and they will do activities with the child throughout the day.
The Key Club held its Spring Regional Rally 26 February where members elected a new lieutenant governor.
The rally is a meeting of all clubs and is the link between all clubs on island and in the Florida district.
In April, at the end of each Key Club year, members of each club take a trip to Orlando for the Florida District Convention in which all key clubs get together.
There, they elect a new district board and are awarded prizes for services done.
