I thought that increased competition was going to reduce fares.
I am travelling on American Airlines to London via Miami at the end of March for three weeks and just picked up my ticket, which cost me US$640 round trip from George Town.
I also just called Cayman Airways for my daughter who wants to travel to Miami in April and was quoted US$490. Thus for a 900 mile round trip it costs only $150 less than flying to London a distance of 8,900 miles.
How will we ever increase tourism when US residents, our prime source of tourist visitors, can fly all the way across the Atlantic and back and enjoy the variety that Europe has to offer, for less than the cost of a one hour flight to Cayman?
