The 15th Annual Dog Show is set to take place, Saturday, 25 March, from 9am to 1pm, and will see over 100 dogs participate in this popular family fun day-out, a press release said.
The show will take place at the Agriculture Pavilion in Lower Valley and will include over 15 show categories.
There will also be delicious food made by the residents and parents supporting East End Primary School, stalls showing off all the latest pet products, books from the Cayman Islands Humane Society Book Store and local vets answering all your pet health questions.
For those who have lost a pet, the show will also have a large board where you can post a picture and/or description, with announcements made throughout the day.
The Cayman Islands Humane Society will also be on hand to answer all your queries about becoming a volunteer and will also have many of the animals from the shelter who are up for adoption.
‘The show has come a long way since it first began in 1991 and now averages about 100 dogs each show,’ Cathy Richardson, show organiser said.
Categories this year include Best Trick, Junior Handlers, Terriers, Cayman Dogs, Puppies and Senior Dogs, as well as the crowd pleasing Obstacle Course and Costume. New categories added include Best Rescued Dogs and Cross Breeds.
‘The show is not meant as a fundraiser, but as a family day out to show tourists and residents alike what great dogs we have in Cayman, both in and out of the shelter, and to inform people of the many ways they can help the Humane Society and have a terrific time doing it,’ Ms Richardson said.
‘Each year we try and make changes to improve the show. This year we have decided to keep the early 9am start, instead of the usual 10am, so it is not too hot for the dogs.
‘The cost of entering your dog in each category of the show has also been lowered. Last year it was $4, but this year is will be just $3 per category. We wanted to make sure the show was reasonable and something that the whole family could enjoy, without spending a lot of money.’
