Million Dollar Run gets ready to take off

This Easter Monday, organizers of the Million Dollar Run race have striven twice as hard to ensure the event has something for everyone; party seekers, sports enthusiasts, car freaks and families, a press release said.

Kaibo will host the Million Dollar Run Race, this Easter Monday, which in the past four years has grown to encompass not only a race, but a car display, family area, musical performance and full on beach party.

Million Dollar Run is presented annually by Ugland Offshore Racing and The Residences at The Ritz Carlton-Grand Cayman.

Kaibo opens for business at midday, when the musical entertainment will kick off in full effect. The island’s premier DJs will be on hand throughout the day to provide retro and popular hits. DJs Presser, DJ Alexi, DJ Billy B and DJ Flex will spin hits and take requests on Kaibo Beach.

At 1pm the race will pit some of the fastest boats in the Western Caribbean and North America against each other in an intense hour of cross island boat racing.

The race starts and finishes at Kaibo, where the event has always had a day-long party with music and up-to-the-minute radio coverage from chosen points around the race route.

Organizers emphasize that the easiest and quickest way to get to Million Dollar Run is on the water. The Sundancer ferry and the Thriller Boat will run regularly from Safehaven.

Party Land has designed a deluxe Kid’s Zone, featuring a bouncy castle, snow cones, cotton candy and appearances with popular life-size cartoon characters; Dora, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Winnie the Pooh.

Vampt Motors Jaguar is also setting up a multi-model display featuring the X-TYPE premium compact sedan and X-Type.

11am and 4pm.
