CIREBA honours Miss Ann

The Cayman Islands Real Estate Brokers Association recently named Mrs. Ann Kirchman as its 2005 Honouree.

Affectionately known as Miss Ann, her contributions to the real estate profession have been long standing. Her career began straight out of high school in April 1972 at the Cadastral Survey Office.

Little did she know that she would be embarking on a long career dealing with land. She was hired back then as a clerical officer. She later transferred to the Lands & Survey Department as an executive officer after the Cadastral Office closed its doors, states a press release.

Throughout Miss Ann’s career, she has been recognized several times for her outstanding commitment and loyalty, her untiring dedication and her desire to always go above and beyond the call of duty. In June 1993, Miss Ann was awarded the Certificate and Badge of Honour from Her Majesty the Queen and in later years she was also recognized as the Distinguished Woman of the Year from the District of East End by the Cayman Islands Government.

Though her career has seen many challenges, the biggest challenge to date was having to deal with the wrath of Ivan and having to relocate thousands of files, equipment and staff to new office premises and re-open the doors of Lands & Survey to the public all of which was completed within three weeks after the devastating storm.

In 2002 she was appointed deputy registrar and subsequently became the first female Caymanian registrar of lands in the Cayman Islands in 2003.
