Volunteers from Hurley’s Group spent this past Saturday morning cleaning up Collier’s Beach in East End in celebration of Earth Day.
The workers also teamed up with CUC to erect two new cabanas for the public use.
One cabana was dedicated to the late Hurley Merren and the other to long-time East End resident Captain Leeroy Watson.
Hurley’s Group was also assisted in the beach cleanup by East End Primary School and provided hamburgers and hotdogs for their employees and for the students.
The clean-up yielded more than 70 bags of rubbish. Hurley’s Group also donated $500 to the students for various projects through the school year.
‘We’re excited to team up with CUC to build these cabanas and dedicate them to the people of East End,’ said Randy Merren, Director of Hurley’s Group.
‘The road back from Hurricane Ivan has been a long one, and we want to do anything we can do for the communities of Cayman to help recover.’
The Hurley’s Group consists of Hurley’s Marketplace, Cayman Imports, Z99 and Rooster 101.9, HCS, Priya’s Spa, Beacon Trucking and Cayman Automotive.
