Stress can have many negative effects on an individual. Did you know that when a person is stressed their adrenaline increases, slowing down digestion, cell repair and the immune system? Learning to cope with stressors can prevent these negative health effects.
The Women’s Resource Centre will be holding a free Healthy Living and Stress Management Workshop at the Cayman Brac Government Administration Building from 9.30am to 11.30am on Saturday, 27 May.
Facilitated by the WRC’s Counsellor/Educator Cindy Blekaitis, the workshop will cover a variety of topics including how to identify stress; its affects on the body; methods to relieve it; how to assess stress levels and ways to restructure priorities to create a more balanced life. Additionally free blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index tests will be provided for participants.
‘Stress affects individuals both physically and mentally,’ explained WRC’s Programme Manager Tammy Ebanks Bishop. This workshop can help persons learn how to deal with stress and also find solutions that best fit their personal lifestyles, thus I would encourage anyone seeking to improve their mental and physical health to take advantage of this educational opportunity.’
