Rotary assists youth leadership

Sixteen-year-old Julia Whiteman, a student at John Gray High School, was nominated to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference in Europe. Rotary Sunrise is assisting with the cost of attending the conference. She will address the Club upon her return.

The Global Young Leaders Conference is a unique leadership development program that brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills in a global context, said a Rotary press release.

GYLC offers students the opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with some of the world’s top business leaders, policy officials, lobbyists, journalists, diplomats and academics in the challenging and dynamic environments of Vienna, Budapest and Prague.

Julia hopes to attend dental college after school and has applied for a place at a Canadian university.

Rotary Sunrise is the newest Rotary Club in the Cayman Islands. Its 67 members, mostly young professionals, from Cayman and 14 other countries meet for breakfast at the Grand Old House on Wednesdays.
