Cayman team gears up

Over the Discovery Day holiday weekend 19 gymnasts from the Motions Unlimited Competitive Team traveled to Nassau, Bahamas for a friendly meet. Level 2 & 3 gymnasts were judged individually on each of the three events (Floor, Vault and Balance Beam) and received ribbons and certificates for their efforts. Gymnasts at level 4 & 5 received medals and ribbons depending on how they placed in each of the events.

In the Level 4 competition Lauren Hill strong performance in all three events (1st on floor, 3rd on vault and beam) earned her first overall with a score of 27.10 (out of 30). Level 4 athletes Justine Ryan and Shanaz Whittaker tied for first place on Vault.

At Level 5 Julia Watling and Bianca Alberga earned the top two spots on Vault with scores of 9.3 and 9.2 respectively. Additionally Julia was 2nd and Bianca was 3rd on Floor.

‘The meet was a good opportunity for our athletes to gain more competition experience in a relaxed atmosphere, especially since we are gearing up to host our own meet in a couple of weeks’ said Coach Janine Olaso.

Motions Unlimited will host the Cayman Classic on Saturday, June 03, 2006 at the gym located on Sparky Drive, off North Sound Rd. At 11:00 a.m. the competition for gymnasts at Level 2 and 3 will begin. Level 4, 5 and optional levels will begin at 1:30 p.m.
