Guilty of defilement

A Grand Court jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on Tuesday on two charges of defilement and two charges of taking a girl under 16 from lawful care.

The defendant, Dwight Anthony ‘Keith’ Plummer, was remanded in custody by Mr. Justice Karl Harrison pending sentence on 11 August.

The charges arose from incidents in early 2005.

The judge indicated he had been prepared to sentence after the jury of five men and two women returned the verdicts. But Defence Attorney Menelik Miller asked the court to request a social inquiry report first, citing the defendant’s previous good character.

Plummer, 30, was logistics supervisor for Cayman Free Press.
