Over 200 kids turned out last week (7th – 11th August) for the annual football camp hosted by Bodden Town Football Club, held at the primary school field in the district.
It was an eager group that participated each day in activities that taught them the fundamental rules of football, provided them with basic exercises and served as a competitive environment for their budding football skills.
The camp, which is in its 12th year, was sponsored by Lookout Gardens, Cable & Wireless and the Ministry of Sports. It attracted a host of coaches, led by the Bodden Town Technical Director Elbert McLean and including Women’s National Team Coach, Thiago Cunha, Gillie Seymour; Daniel Augustine; Andy Myles; Phillip Bodden; Jared Morgan; Alexis Bodden; Mario Berry; Rex Dilbert and Lloyd Denton.
President of Bodden Town FC, Mark Scotland, was pleased with the outcome of the camp. ‘Once again we have had very enthusiastic support for this annual summer camp, which has been providing youngsters with the opportunity to learn new skills, while having fun. The camp has been growing from strength to strength and for that we have to thanks all our supporters and parents who continue to make it possible,’ he said.
In addition to the sponsors, the camp also received support from CUC, Best Home Care and George Town Sports Club’s Lee Ramoon. It was organized by BT FC staff and volunteers Laverne Minzett, Ellen Rose Sherman and Alice Mae Bodden.
