Murder inquiry set

Magistrate Nova Hall set Monday 4 September for a preliminary inquiry into the charge of murder against Armando Luis Martinez-Hall.

The defendant, 52, is accused of murdering Silvia Johana Martinez Allen 25, in the early hours of Saturday, 12 August.

Ms Allen was found with stab wounds at her home address on Pool Lane, Pond Road, off Smith Road in George Town. In releasing that information, police also said that the defendant is of a Pool Lane address.

In Summary Court on Friday, Solicitor General Cheryll Richards and Defence Attorney John Furniss agreed they wanted the matter to go to Grand Court as soon as possible.

Ms Richards advised that there were some statements not yet available, including one from the pathologist. She was also awaiting forensic reports.

Mr. Furniss did not make an application for bail and the defendant was remanded to Northward Prison.

He is a Nicaraguan national, as was the deceased.

If the necessary documents are ready and the preliminary inquiry goes ahead, Martinez-Hall will appear in Grand Court on Wednesday, 6 September.
