The music of Mozart will feature in a benefit performance and dinner at the Grand Old House, in aid of the Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund next month.
The one-of-a-kind venture will be held on Saturday, 21 October and is being put together by the restaurant and UBS.
The night, starting at 7pm, features a three-course dinner and the music of Mozart performed by Maria Victoria del Collado (pianist), Alfredo Muñoz (violinist), Vilma Garriga (singer) and Barbara Llanes (singer), according to a release.
UBS, which in the past has supported the NRF through donations and sponsorships, is the sponsor’s sole sponsor, the statement adds.
‘UBS is keen to support the National Recovery Fund and those who are contributing towards raising funds for its on-going housing recovery programme,’ said Head of UBS Fund Services in Cayman Darren Stainrod, ‘The NRF has been making a difference to the lives of many in the community and we are happy to assist in these efforts,’ he added.
Following the NRF’s successful fundraiser, ‘Night at the Races’ held at the same venue in June, the owners and managers of the restaurant are once again providing the full support of the facility.
‘Grand Old House is pleased to be part of this event… We encourage everyone to come out in support,’ stated the restaurant’s general manager Martin Richter.
Musicians Alfredo Muñoz and Maria Victoria del Collado form the classic chamber music duet, Pro Música, noted for its concert history in Europe, Russia, Canada, Latin and Central America.
Vilma Garriga is an established artist locally playing nightly at the Grand Old House. The pianist, a Professor of Music, has taught at the Institute of Music in Havana and been soloist for the Cuban Symphony Orchestra.
As one of Latin America’s most talented opera singers, Barbara Llanes has drawn appreciative international audiences.
Tickets for the event are available at Grand Old House, or at the National Recovery Fund’s Office at Courts Road, George Town (across from Cox Lumber). Costing $100, tickets includes dinner. Call 949-9333 or 943-3863 for further information
