Tickets are now on sale for the gastronomic event, Taste of Cayman, scheduled for the weekend 4 November.
Tickets, priced at $50, include admission to the Taste Restaurant Showcase and Cayman Cookoff – to be held at Boatswains Beach – as well as automatic entry into the raffle to win the 2007 Mercedes convertible plus nine other vacation prizes.
The Taste Restaurant Showcase features 40 of Cayman’s finest restaurants parading a sampling of their signature dishes, both local and international cuisine. Participants include Cimboco, the Hyatt, Lone Star, the Lighthouse and the Ritz-Carlton. Attendees at the event are free to wander from booth to booth, sampling as much food as they can manage.
For those who fancy Caymanian cuisine, The Cayman Cookoff runs alongside the Restaurant Showcase. Professionals and amateur chefs compete to create the Best Traditional and Best Contemporary Caymanian dish using turtle, beef, pork or goat.
Entertainment will run well into the night with live bands and DJs playing a mix of calypso, soca, rock, reggae, country and pop. Also included in the entertainment are ample games for the kids such as face painting and craft making.
The event will coincide with Boatswain’s Beach grand opening – adding an additional frisson of excitement.
The Taste of Cayman Golf Classic invites golfers to tee off at the Britannia Golf Course on Sunday, 5 November.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lighthouse School, the Pines Retirement Home, the Sunrise Training Centre and other local charities. In addition, the event raises money for the Cayman Islands Tourism Association Scholarship Fund, which assists Caymanians to pursue a career in the tourism industry.
