At the banquet attended by the Governor, Mr. Stuart Jack, wife Mariko and other government officials, guests were treated to a scrumptious buffet, performances by Dance Unlimited, a slide presentation of 911 10 years in review, a keynote address by Manager Juliette Gooding and life as a 911operator by Leslie Vernon.

Several guests along with 911 staff also received awards for their contributions, in making 911 more effective.

Although Ms Gooding said the job was at times stressful, and always under a microscope and not always smooth sailing, it was a unique job.

‘Just hearing that someone has resumed breathing or a child has been rescued from a burning building makes it all worthwhile,’ said Ms Gooding.

‘911-ers are a special bunch of people to appreciate when you are asleep they are watching over you so do not hesitate to give a thank you call or a visit to experience what is 991.

‘Being the only 911 service that addresses the needs of all three islands, every time one goes to bed at night, say a little prayer for 911.’
