Young Caymanians are being offered an opportunity for professional training and development at Micro Matrix in Centennial Towers in West Bay through sponsorship by Island Rental Services, a local rental, real estate and property management firm.
Micro Matrix Skills Assessment and Training Centre, an organization that offers professional development courses and computer training, is holding a 200-word essay contest on the importance of preserving Caymanian culture, states a press release. Two winners of the contest are then registered for the upcoming administrative assistant development programme, with all course expenses paid for by Island Rental Services, states a press release.
Kerry Horek of Island Rental’s commented ‘As a Caymanian entrepreneur, I feel it is necessary for me to give back to the community and I take pleasure in doing so. There has been a lot of talk recently about the revamping of the educational system, and what better way to make a contribution than to help someone achieve some practical skills that can be used on the job.’
Sandra Catron, proprietor of Micro Matrix, agreed that the opportunity should not be passed up.
‘Ms Horek has stepped forward in a way that illustrates how we can all make a difference. I am very pleased that Island Rentals sees the importance of training Caymanians to be ready for the challenges in the workplace. It is one thing to have the academic qualifications, but it is quite different to be prepared to face the many social and organizational challenges that one will face in the office,’ said Ms Catron.
