Diamonds were the centre of attention at last Wednesday evening’s Ice on Ice event.
The glittering bash, held at the Westin, is an annual fundraiser for the Cayman Islands Humane Society, and saw over 250 people pile into the hotel’s lobby for the fun-filled event.
On arrival, guests made a bee-line for the Moet and Chandon champagne bar, where four lucky attendees found a half carat diamond, courtesy of Landmark Jewellers and Diamonds Direct, nestled in the ice in their drinks.
Other prizes up for grabs included a trip to Boston, courtesy of the Westin and Z99.
Continuing the diamond theme, Island Companies showcased a selection of dazzling jewels, while models sashayed amongst the guests showing off some of the latest designs.
Guests enjoyed the smooth sounds of jazz band Intransit, while those who spilled out onto the hotel’s pool deck, were entertained by DJ Craig from One World Entertainment, who aptly kept the party atmosphere going.
Now in its second year, Ice on Ice raised $12,000, which will go direct to the cancer society to help provide financial assistance to cancer patients’ treatment related expenses.
Nicole Lalum, promotions director for Z99, co-organisers of the event, said she was delighted with the evening’s success.
‘The event went well and exceeded all our expectations,’ she enthused. ‘We have had such a positive response and, judging by this year’s success, we shall definitely be holding a similar event in 2007.’
