I refer to Mr. Ritch comments in the Caymanian Compass 17th October 2006 that he had received no written response from Mr. Hamaty in respect of the draft bill during the month set aside for public input.
I wish to mention that I did not submit a response under the umbrella of the Jamaican Consulate office, however at a company level I did make submissions by letter to the Minister for Tourism, Environment, Investment and Commerce, with copies to the Leader of Government Business and the chairperson of the Business Staffing Plan Board from as far back as 17 January, 2006, regarding our concerns on the impact of the term limit and suggested that its imposition be reviewed.
Subsequently to that, a copy of our letter with additional comments was submitted to the Chamber of Commerce to be included in their representation through the Council of Association.
We would also like thank Mr. Ritch for not hesitating in apologizing to those Jamaicans that were offended by his remarks
