Conscious of lengthy flights and weary travellers, the Task Force has arranged to kick off Conference hospitality and amenities at the airport with a tempting array of local cakes and beverages.
Trina Christian, chair of the Hospitality and Amenities Task Force is drawing on her experience as director of marketing and public relations for Cayman Traditional Arts, where she has established strong relationships with local businesses and craftsmen, making it easy for her to source uniquely Caymanian gifts for Conference delegates.
Christian was an ideal candidate to chair the Task Force because of her joint investment in both the hospitality and tourism industries: Christian has worked on local events that cater to cruise passengers, she operates the Rocky Shore Guest House in West Bay and maintains her full time job with Cayman Traditional Arts!
‘Cayman Traditional Arts’ mission is to bring a cultural representation of the Cayman Islands to the tourism industry,’ said Christian. ‘I believe that my involvement with the FCCA Conference will allow me to use Cayman Traditional Arts’ philosophy to positively influence the cruise industry; and consequently assist the Cayman Islands in making a positive impression on the invited guests that will be attending the Conference.’
Christian and the Hospitality and Amenities Task Force have been working closely with the local businesses, craftsmen and artisans that distribute products with a distinctly Caymanian feel. Christian explained that she and the Task Force have targeted businesses that already benefit from tourism as key partners in this effort, and that she has used her connections developed through Cayman Traditional Arts to include their products in to the Amenities Task Force’s ‘end product’. Christian noted that local craftsmen and businesses alike have been overwhelmingly helpful and generous.
The Task Force focused its efforts on identifying tasteful and authentic amenities, honing in upon the quality of the products. Although the Task Force will provide gifts throughout the entire Conference – ranging from snacks and beverages at the airport, to welcome gift baskets for VIPs, to turn-down gifts at the hotels, to a snack and beverage setup at the airport before delegates board their planes home – Christian’s ultimate goal was to find an array of amenities that were noticeably different than anything that could be obtained on any other Caribbean Island or country.
‘I think the conference presents the Cayman Islands with an excellent opportunity to showcase unique Caymanian offerings and quality products,’ said Christian. ‘Delegates who experience an authentic taste of the Cayman Islands and its culture will better appreciate Cayman as a unique destination.’
