The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service Criminal Investigation Department has launched two investigations following separate incidents over the bank holiday weekend.
At around 1am Saturday, police responded to a disturbance at Margaretville and found one man suffering from stab wounds.
The 26-year-old victim was taken to hospital by medics where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
It’s thought a fight occurred within the bar, resulting in the man being stabbed. Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who has yet to give a statement to police.
At around 11.40pm on Saturday evening, the 911 Communications Centre received a call reporting that a man had been stabbed in the parking lot of the Islander Complex on Lawrence Boulevard.
Police and medics attended and a 27- year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from stab wounds. It would appear a fight began inside the Matrix Nightclub prior to the parties involved being moved outside, states an RCIPS press release.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who can help detectives should contact George Town CID on 949-4222.
The RCIPS is reminding the public that carrying a knife on any licensed premises property is against the law. The RCIPS is taking a strong stance against this and anyone caught carrying a weapon will be dealt with accordingly.
