Cayman’s one and only interactive Surf Show is back after an almost one year hiatus, a press release said.
Taking place at the Black Pearl Wave Park in Grand Harbour, the Surf Show is a one hour entertainment spectacular with lights and music, where the members of the Black Pearl Wave Team take the audience through the process of surfing from beginner to expert, even bringing people from the audience into the show.
The Black Pearl Wave Team consists of well known Caymanian’s John Graham-Taylor and Jarret Nicholson, JR Cameron of Ontario, Canada, manager of the Black Pearl Skate and Surf Shop Kevin Grzybouski of Ontario, Canada as the Wave Show Operator, and Dave O’Donnell of New York as the Master of Ceremonies.
‘Our new wave show is bigger and better than before’ says Jarret Nicholson – Wave Team member and Black Pearl Surf Park manager. ‘We’ve added new elements to get the crowd involved, a new state of the art lighting system is currently underway; and the recent addition of Master of Ceremonies Dave O’Donnell who is an actor, playwright and comedian puts this show into the ‘must see’ category in Cayman.’
The Surf Show was designed by the originating members of the Wave Team John Graham-Taylor and JR Cameron and aims to bring awareness to this unique wave machine and to encourage children and young adults to get involved in the fun and healthy sport of surfing.
The Black Pearl Wave Park boasts one of only three wave simulators found in the world (the other two located in San Diego and South Africa). The machine produces waves varying in height from three to 11 feet in height of fresh filtered water.
The Surf Show takes place in conjunction with ‘Surf and Turf’ Saturdays on the Starlite Patio, outside of the newly opened Black Pearl Galley Bar and Grill. In addition to the Surf Show at 7pm, there is cocktail hour on the Starlight Patio before hand and great beach and surfing tunes provided by Millennium Talent Management and Kiss FM. Surf and Turf Dinner of a 10oz steak and freshwater jumbo prawns is available for $30 and with that you receive a two for one voucher for the Surf Park valued at $30. An all you can eat beach buffet is planned to be introduced shortly.
People interested in being a part of the show can arrive at the Wave Park one hour prior to show time each Saturday to practice the basics. The Wave Team will then select individuals to stay on and perform in the show with them. At the end of the show, surf lessons for up to 10 people are available with the Team Members for a one hour period.
