Ogier named Niche Firm

Ogier is celebrating yet another award win.

It was named Niche Firm of the Year at the Legal Week Awards 2006 on 29 November.

The accolade, which comes hot on the trail of the firm’s Offshore Firm of the Year win at the Chambers Global Awards earlier last month, acknowledges the specialist nature of the work undertaken by Ogier in the increasing number of jurisdictions in which it now operates, states a press release.

The pending merger with BVI-based WSmiths was mentioned as a key development for the firm.

This has been a particularly successful year for Ogier who picked up the Offshore Legal Team of the Year at the inaugural Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Awards as well as the Alpha Award for Top Offshore Law Firm in New York in September.

The nominations and shortlist for the Legal Week Awards were compiled by the editorial team at the magazine, one of the UK’s leading legal publications.

‘This really tops off what has been an incredible year for Ogier, both in terms of the expansion of the firm and prestigious industry acknowledgement,’ said James Bergstrom, Managing Partner of Ogier in Cayman.

Chairman of the Ogier Group, Jonathan White, said: ‘We have only just finished celebrating the Chambers award so winning Niche Firm of the Year on top of that is a fantastic achievement. To receive recognition from a publication like Legal Week for the standard of work we undertake is really a credit to the quality and expertise of people that we have at Ogier.’

Also short-listed for Niche Firm of the Year at the Legal Week Awards 2006 were Maples and Calder, Wiggin & Co, Forsters and Sacker & Partners.
