This year the funds have been donated to the Department of Children and Family Services and the National Council of Voluntary Organisations, each receiving CI$20,000 and CI$10,000 respectively.

‘At Cayman27, our commitment reaches beyond our programming to helping the community we serve,’ said Rick Alpert, Cayman27 Station Manager.

Lynda Mitchell, a representative from the Department of Children and Family Services, said the donation will go towards buying gift certificates for food, clothing and toys for families in need from all the districts in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.

The remaining funds will be used during May 2007 to support Child Month, a Department initiative consisting of various family fun days designed to educate parents on the well being of their child and the various ways to bond and spend quality time with children.

‘We are very grateful to Cayman27 for supporting our objectives and helping us reach out to families in need,’ said Ms Mitchell.

The NCVO will use the donation to fund new playground equipment and supplies for Miss Nadine’s Pre-School and the Jack & Jill Nursery and Early Learning Centre in George Town.

Cayman27 Station Manager Rick Alpert presented the CI$10,000 to the NCVO during their annual live telethon held 25 November.

As part of the campaign, Cayman27 also hosted a Christmas party for children from Bonaventure Home, Frances Bodden Girls’ Home, foster children, physically disabled children and children from various communities in Grand Cayman. The party took place at Grand Harbour Shopping Centre on 9 December.

The NCVO also hosted a Christmas party on 21 December for children from the Nadine Andreas Residential Foster Home, Miss Nadine’s Pre-School and Jack & Jill Nursery. The party was voluntarily organized by Cayman27’s Programme Director/Production Manager, Anita Smith, and NCVO staff members.

Cayman27 General Sales Manager, Shawn Wilcox said, ‘It is always a joy to organise the Cayman27 Christmas for Kids campaign and it is wonderful to see how the local business community pulls together to support these families. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the participating companies for their valuable contributions.’
