Passport rules were forced

The new US passport policy certainly has proven to be a difficult issue both practically and financially for everyone concerned.

However it should be pointed out that international travel for the vast majority of the world’s citizens demands that they possess a passport to travel internationally.

Open borders are no longer defined in the same way as they were before September 2001.

While the terrorist threat is largely to blame for the changes, the exponential growth in illegal immigration and trafficking in humans, small arms and drugs probably did much to tip the balance.

The US authorities have put into place a rule for re-entry by their own citizens, which generally commonplace practice in the rest of the world.
