HRH Earl of Wessex Prince Edward will visit the Cayman Islands this weekend with a tightly packed schedule.
Commencing Saturday the Earl’s visit will touch all of Cayman’s districts as he participates in several events over the course of the three days he is here.
The visit will focus on Hurricane Ivan recovery, children and youth and the environment, areas he is particularly interested in.
The Earl will tour the Island to view areas ravaged in Ivan and get a first hand view of progress that has been made and challenges that still need to be addressed and will have the opportunity to meet residents of West Bay, East End, and Cayman Brac to hear about their experiences.
The prince will also have a chance to meet youth at a sports day at the Governor’s house on Saturday afternoon, as well as at a special youth event at UCCI Monday.
In Grand Cayman, the Earl will visit the Salina Reserve to participate in a Blue Iguana release and take in a mangrove and Stingray City tour.
The prince will also visit the Sister Islands for a tour of the Central Caribbean Marine Institute, of which he is patron, and will attend the groundbreaking of the new wind power project on Cayman Brac on the following day.
The visit will culminate with an awards ceremony at Government House for a reception for Queen’s honours recipients and Duke of Edinburgh award winners.
