The Cayman Islands Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s Red Dragon Jazz Ball smashed last year’s impressive total.
Trust board member Tiffany Polloni, whose eldest son has the disease, said this year’s total of $48,000 reflects the high level of commitment of all those involved in the event. The inaugural gala in 2006 raised $37,000.
‘We are delighted to have raised $48,000 in such a short space of time from the fundraising ball. It’s a measure of how much work and effort went into organizing the event on the part of our board, the volunteers and the many, many firms and companies that helped make the Red Dragon Jazz Ball a resounding success,’ she commented.
Mrs. Polloni also commended the 300 guests that attended the colourful event and thanked the couple who allowed the ball to be held in the grounds of their Omega Bay residence.
This year’s fundraiser, held 3 February, included a champagne reception, lion dancing, kung fu displays, a three-course meal, auctions, a raffle and live music.
As with all CFT events, the money raised will go to assisting cystic fibrosis patients in Cayman and funding cutting-edge research into the chronic disease.
