The National Children and Youth Symposium hosted by the Attorney General and the Ministry of Health and Human Services has been rescheduled.
The event, originally slated to take place at the Marriot Hotel on 19, 22 and 23 February, will now take place on 19 February and 14 and 15 March.
While the opening day is open to the public, the last two days are by invitation only and will include both public and private stakeholders, organisers confirm.
According to the Ministry of Health and Human Services the final two days were rescheduled ‘to allow organisers to consider and take advantage of the proceedings of the first day… in so far as they will relate to the needs of children and young people.’
The symposium’s opening day will feature speakers who will address attendees from their specific areas of expertise, using the Report on Predisposing Factors to Criminality in the Cayman Islands.
This report produced a number of recommendations specific to young people, which will be examined in the various presentations. Speakers will also present additional recommendations.
Attendees of the symposium are encouraged to take part in the five question and answer sessions, which will give them an opportunity to bring their own knowledge and expertise to the forum.
Additionally, handouts for each presentation will be given to attendees who will be asked for feedback on each area should they wish.
The programme for Monday’s symposium is available at www.gov.ky.
