Brac high school celebrating milestone

Celebrating 40 years of Excellence is the theme chosen by the committee that has been established to organise the commemoration for the 40th anniversary of the Cayman Brac High School, formerly Secondary Modern School.

The school opened its doors on 23 January, 1967, under the leadership of Mr. Layman E. Scott Sr. as principal.

The committee is chaired by Wanda Tatum, with James Tibbetts as deputy chairman and Lorna (Evelia) Bush as secretary/treasurer.

A weekend of celebrations is planned for 29 June to 2 July and a special invitation is extended to all past students and teachers and it is hoped that as many as possible will attend.

The calendar of events includes the publication of a high quality commemorative book, a homecoming reception and alumni dinner, a worship service and an awards ceremony.

To complement these events, the school will be producing a magazine that will highlight the current student body. Many other activities are planned including the reintroduction of the All Island Fair, which was made popular during the early years of the school.

The committee is keen to appoint representatives from each year group from January 1967 to the present to assist with the assimilation and compilation of data.
