In completing my reply about the Miss Cayman Islands Pageant, I would like to give my personal advice on the more lavish prizes awarded to the Miss Cayman Islands Pageant winner.
That is, not all countries whether the committee is managed by their government or a private sector body are able to give scholarships and a brand new vehicle to the winner. This is because previous Miss Universe and Miss World title holders have come from less fortunate countries than the Cayman Islands.
So, to the young ladies that will enter the pageant and the one that captures the Miss Cayman crown; don’t place your emphasis only on the prizes that you will receive locally.
Make your overall goal be to become a goodwill ambassador and to focus on the big prize, which is training and working hard towards bringing home to your island people the Miss Universe or the Miss World crown.
Whilst the 2007/2008 Miss Cayman Islands Pageant is being organised, may I suggest that the first runner up from last year’s pageant, Miss Arleth Chiari, if she is able to, be prepared to represent the Cayman Islands in the upcoming Miss Universe Pageant.
