Weapons taken, speeders nabbed

A wild weekend in Grand Cayman saw four men arrested for drugs, two air guns seized, 17 speeding citations issued, and a slew of other traffic tickets handed out.

Four men from George Town and West Bay were arrested Friday evening for consumption of ganja in the area of Martin’s Square off Shedden Rd. Police said one of those suspects was in possession of a pellet gun.

Four other men, all from Colombia or Cuba, were arrested Saturday afternoon on suspicion of possessing an unlicensed weapon. Officers said it was reported that the four, aged 24 to 29 were firing an air gun at a bucket in a North Side neighbourhood.

Thirteen speeding tickets were issued over the course of the weekend in George Town, and four other drivers were ticketed for speeding in West Bay.

Thirty-three people were given traffic tickets in Bodden Town for various violations such as expired coupons, no insurance, or failure to wear seat belts.
