Symphony by the Sea

The Cracked Conch restaurant came alive with popular classical music at Symphony by the Sea, held last Wednesday.

The sold-out ticketed event saw 12 members of the Cayman Islands National Orchestra perform pieces by composers such as Mozart, Handel and Brahms, while diners feasted on a sumptuous five-course meal.

Among the menu options were the restaurant’s famed conch chowder, a seafood trio, steamed snapper and a dark chocolate mousse.

Part proceeds from the event will go towards the orchestra’s summer concert, which they hope to take to the Brac.

Orchestra Director, Sue Horrocks, said she was delighted with the turn out at the event.

‘We were overwhelmed and are keen to hold something similar again,’ she said. ‘It was the first time we had played at the restaurant and acoustically it worked extremely well.

‘It was truly a great success and both the orchestra and audience really enjoyed it.’
