Nurses in the Cayman Islands take national spotlight from this week, which is being designated as Nurses Week.
This special week honouring nurses is celebrated annually from 6 May through 12 May, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which registered nurses are working to improve health care, states a press release.
Several activities have been organized to commemorate the week.
The highlight of the week is the second Nursing Conference to be held from Tuesday through Thursday at the Grand Cayman Marriott Resort. Minister of Health Anthony Eden will open the conference at 9am Wednesday.
On Wednesday there will be a walk from Cayman Islands Hospital to the South Sound Community Park starting at 5.30pm.
The theme of Nurses Week 2007 is Nursing: A Profession and a Passion.
