Twenty-four outstanding educators in public and private schools throughout the Cayman Islands have been selected as honourees from a field of more than 150 teachers nominated by parents and students for the first Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple Awards.
The Golden Apple honourees are:
Primary School Teacher in a Private School:
Ms Mary Page, First Baptist Christian School; Ms Maria Kennedy, St. Ignatius Catholic School; Ms Imogene Samms, Wesleyan Christian Academy
Primary School Teacher in a Public School:
Ms Mary Smith, Red Bay Primary School; Ms Elvie Clarke, East End Primary School; Mrs. Bibi Samaroo, Bodden Town Primary School
Middle School Teacher in a Private School:
Ms Jewel Meikle, Cayman Academy; Ms Jennifer Batson, Grace Christian Academy; Mrs. Rebecca Profitt, Wesleyan Christian Academy
Middle School Teacher in a Public School:
Ms June South Robinson, Leading Edge High School, George Hicks Campus; Mrs. Donett Chung, Leading Edge High School, George Hicks Campus; Mrs. Charlene James-Jarrett, Leading Edge High School, George Hicks Campus
High School Teacher in a Private School:

High School Teacher in a Public School

Principal in a Private School:

Principal in a Public School:
Ms Marie Martin, George Town Primary School; Mrs. Lorna Blackman, Savannah Primary School; Ms Karlene Buckle, Bodden Town Primary School
One honouree from each category will be selected to receive a Golden Apple Award on 23 June at the black-tie awards gala at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman. The awards ceremony will be televised live on Cayman 27 at 9pm.
Tables of 10 are available for purchase for CI$1,500 or individual tickets are available for CI$150 each. All proceeds will go towards the Chamber’s Partners in Education initiatives, which support teachers training, further education and scholarships.
