The finals of the Cayman Islands Open Badminton Tournament were held this month at the Cayman Prep School hall.
There were more than 30 men and ladies entrants participating in divisions A, B and C. The big winner was Wray Banker appearing in and winning all the A Division finals; Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles..
In the Men’s Division A singles finals Banker faced long time rival Chris Cole. This combination would be repeated for all the finals. Cole seeded #1, again made it into all the finals after winning the ‘triple crown’ in last November’s tournament. The first set saw momentum shifts and after Banker survived a set point against at 13-14, he ran out the last points to take the first set 17-14. He continued the momentum into the second set to take the match in straight sets with the surprising easy score of 15-1. Ladies Singles A finals saw a repeat of last tournament’s B finals with Lolita Raralio facing Christina McTaggart. McTaggart showing fight in the first game but Raralio outlasting her with some consistent play taking the match in straight sets, 11-6, 11-4.
In Ladies Doubles #1 seeds Lolita Raralio/Fevi Yu continued their dominance from last tournament out classing Christina McTaggart/Nicole Ramroop 15-1, 15-6. Ramroop did well reaching the finals in her first tournament with some passionate play. Men’s Doubles final, Wray Banker and new partner Jerry Avendano beat Chris Cole/Clayton Powell the #1 seeds and last year’s winners, by out playing them to take the match in the relatively comfortable scores of 15-7, 15-9.
In the Mixed Doubles #1 seeded, runners up in last tournament, Wray Banker/Fevi Yu overwhelmed the new pairing of Chris Cole (last years winner) /Michelle Motta, to take the match 15-6, 15-2, the last final of the night.

Ladies Singles Michelle Motta beat R. Joy Sy 11-7, 11-0
Men’s Singles Jerry Avendano beat Caston Powery 15-10, 15-2
Division C
Ladies Singles M. Martin beat E. Hurlston 11-8, 11-0
Men’s Singles B. Sigsworth beat E. Serva 15-1, 15-6
