The annual Minister’s Black-Tie Ball showcasing the eight Miss Cayman Islands contestants and their sponsors takes place this Friday at the Ritz-Carlton.
The ball will be hosted by Minister of Tourism Charles Clifford and organised by the Miss Cayman Islands Committee. The contestants will be the highlight of the glitzy affair, themed Putting on the Ritz and featuring a yesteryear flair.
‘The ballroom will be transformed to create an atmosphere that is nostalgic of the 1940s and ’50s,’ Miss Cayman Islands Committee Chairperson Jacqui Terry said in a press release.
Entertainment will be provided by renowned Jamaican soul singer Winsome Benjamin, who regularly performs with international artists throughout the Caribbean, Europe and the United States.
‘Along with the great entertainment and sumptuous meal to be served, Putting on the Ritz promises to be a fabulous setting in which to meet all the contestants as we lead up to the pageant,’ Mrs. Terry added.
The formal affair begins with a cocktail reception at 7pm on the terrace, followed by a full-course meal served with wine in the Royal Cayman Islands Ballroom.
FYI
Tickets are $200 per person or $2,000 for a table of 10. They can be purchased from the Ministry of Tourism’s Human Resource Manager, Dawn McLean-Sawney, on 244-2249.
