Just three months after he was officially appointed as the Cayman Islands Chief Fire Officer, the Caymanian Compass has learned that Roy Grant will be leaving that post sometime in December.
He will be replaced by his second-in-command, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dennom Bodden, according to Deputy Chief Secretary Donovan Ebanks.
Mr. Grant will have been with the fire service 34 years by the time of his retirement, and has been serving as Acting Fire Chief in Cayman since October 2005. He was formally appointed to the post in June of this year.
‘I always said at 55 I would retire,’ Mr. Grant said. ‘Being on call 24-seven for 33 years is a long time.’
