Moissanite boutique opens its doors

The Caribbean’s first-ever Moissanite boutique has opened in Island Plaza in George Town.

Island Companies Ltd. has partnered with Reeves Park, Inc. and the Charles & Colvard company to bring the boutique to Grand Cayman, stated a press release.

Reeves Park, Inc. is the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of Moissanite jewellery.

‘Reeves Park is excited to partner with the Island Companies and Charles & Colvard for the first Moissanite boutique in the Caribbean,’ said Klaus Jung, President/CEO at Reeves Park, Inc.

Charles & Colvard are creating a buzz around the world with the newest ‘it’ gem, Moissanite, a unique jewel with exceptional brilliance and fire.

Moissanite, also known by its chemical name, silicon carbide (SiC), is a naturally occurring mineral found in very limited quantities as minute particles in the earth. This rare, naturally occurring Moissanite is found in such very scarce amounts that its use for jewellery is virtually impossible.

Due to Moissanite’s extraordinary fire and brilliance scientists have been working for years to re-create this exceptional jewel. Now, through the relentless pursuit of perfection at Charles & Colvard, Moissanite is finally being created.

The team at Charles & Colvard has developed a process to produce in a laboratory, large gem-quality crystals which can be hand faceted into near-colourless jewels with incomparable fire and brilliance. Charles & Colvard-created Moissanite is truly a unique and beautiful blend of art and science.

Moissanite has extraordinary optical properties which allow the jewellery to sparkle with maximum beauty. The physical properties, hardness and toughness, allow the jewellery to be wearable, easy to care for and the stone does not scratch or chip easily.

Each piece of jewellery is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity and limited warranty.

‘Moissanite is a dazzling, unique jewel that has more fire, brilliance and lustre than any other, which means you will receive more compliments when you wear it,’ said Liz Richardson, Sales Director, National Accounts at Charles & Colvard. ‘It has nearly 2.4 times the fire of a diamond and 10 per cent more brilliance.’

ICL Managing Director, Renard Moxam, said the company has ‘amazing success with Moissanite world-wide, but particularly with two demographics that are very important to the Cayman Islands – the self-purchasing female and the North American customer.

‘Our cruise and stay-over travellers to the island are largely North American, and Cayman has a very powerful local population of self-purchasing women. Moissanite is an indulgence and a reward and it’s no surprise women purchase it for themselves. We’re very proud to have the first-ever dedicated Moissanite boutique in the Caribbean.’
