The Lions club of Tropical Gardens Breast Cancer Awareness Programme has benefited from the generosity of Platinum Sponsor Rawlinson & Hunter.
The company donated $15,000 in memory of former employee Avis Thompson who passed away recently due to complications from breast cancer.
Partner with the firm Mr. William Walmsley, said that Rawlinson & Hunter is proud to be contributing to such a worthy cause. Though they have supported the cause for several years, this year is special as it is in memory of a dear friend and colleague. The firm is encouraging all residents to support the programme and go out and get tested.
The generosity of companies such as Rawlinson & Hunter enables the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens to spend around $60,000 annually to provide women in the community with vouchers to receive mammograms.
The vouchers are distributed at the breast cancer awareness meetings which are held in each district during the month. The next awareness meeting will be held on 25 October at the Mary Miller Memorial Hall in George Town. All meetings begin at 7.30pm.
