Tennis pros from around the world, surprise celebrities, pro-am competition, a golf tournament, learn-from-the-pros tennis clinics, dancing ’til dawn and all for a great cause: these are some of the major ingredients of the 5th Annual Charity Cayman Classic, December 7-9, at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Proceeds for the star-studded weekend will benefit the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, a local shelter for domestic abuse victims. Single day, weekend and VIP packages are available.
‘It is a real pleasure for me to be able to combine my passion for tennis with my desire to bring some tangible benefit to the community through support for the Crisis Centre. With what we have lined up, there is every reason to believe that this year’s event will surpass the scale and excitement of Tennis Weekends in the past,’ said Michael Ryan, developer of The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and sponsor of the annual event for the past five years.
The Cayman Classic will kick off with the Friday Night Whites Beach Party with casual cocktails, cuisine and music entertainment on Seven Mile Beach. A silent auction, featuring everything from a Jaguar automobile and $10,000 jewelry to paintings and sports supplies, will also open for bids. On Saturday, December 8th, the Cayman Classic will welcome guests and the community as Mike Ryan presides over The Courts at The Ritz-Carlton for the Celebrity Pro-Am tournament. Confirmed to play alongside celebrities to be announced later are: Jimmy Arias, Eddie Dibbs, Ellis Ferreira, Paul Goldstein, Brian Gottfried, Murphy Jenson, Petr Korda, Johan Kriek, Richard Leach, David MacPherson, Gene Mayer, and Jeffrey Tarango, among others.
The featured attraction for Saturday night is the Cayman Classic Tennis Ball, featuring music artist Chris Isaak, followed on Sunday, December 9th, by a shotgun nine-hole golf tournament on The Ritz-Carlton’s exclusive Greg Norman-designed Blue Tip course. Tennis instruction for adults and kids will precede the finals of the Pro-Am and the Charity Exhibition Match in the afternoon. Other family activities and attractions near the courts will entertain throughout the weekend as well.
Day pass prices start at US$20. The Cayman Classic Two Day Gold Package, which includes all-access passes to the tennis tournament, single or couples tickets to Friday Night Whites Beach Party and Saturday’s Cayman Classic Tennis Ball, start at US$750 per person. The VIP Weekend Package, starting at US$3,500 per person, also includes three nights of oceanfront deluxe accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and Silver Rain Spa treatments. The VIP Weekend Package with one Amateur Tennis Tournament Entry starts at US$6,000 per person.
‘This event has been a source of enormous pride for us over the years and it is great to see it keep growing and getting better every year. We look forward to hosting it here at The Ritz-Carlton after many years of tremendous support from the Cayman Islands Tennis Club. We are most proud of the many people and businesses who dig deep to make this weekend so tremendous,’ Ryan added.
