Mourant du Feu & Jeune has been named Offshore Law Firm of the Year at the Chambers Global 2007 annual awards.
Beating five rivals at the event in the London Hilton on Park Lane, offshore firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune was recognised for its excellence and the consistency of service it provides from offices around the world, including Jersey, Guernsey, Cayman, London and New York.
The Offshore Law Firm of the Year award was presented by BBC broadcaster John Simpson to Brian Scholfield, head of Mourant du Feu & Jeune’s London office, and Yenni Kusumo, head of marketing for the law firm.
The awards are judged on comments and opinions from thousands of top lawyers and their clients, which forms part of the objective research Chambers Global conducts on an annual basis to determine the key service providers in each area and, ultimately, the winners in each award category, states a press release.
The accolade comes during a year of expansion for Mourant du Feu & Jeune. Celebrating its 60th anniversary, earlier this year it became the first offshore law firm to open in New York and recently completed a merger with Cayman-based Quin & Hampson, which means Mourant du Feu & Jeune now has 103 lawyers plus 31 partners worldwide.
Stephen Ball, CEO, Mourant du Feu & Jeune, said: ‘Chambers Global is a pre-eminent legal directory, so this award is one we are extremely pleased and honoured to win. The competition in the offshore category, as always, was tough, but Mourant du Feu & Jeune’s ability to service our clients consistently across all of our jurisdictions, plus our strategy for the future and our achievements of the past year made us stand out from the competition.’
He added: ‘Our lawyers and employees have worked immensely hard demonstrating our capabilities in all of our jurisdictions. They have all contributed to the high level of client service that this award recognises and must all be congratulated for their sterling efforts.’
