Register for Little League

Little Leaguers get their final opportunity to register for the 2008 season tomorrow.

The league is for both boys and girls and to register is completely free for all players.

It doesn’t matter if kids have never played baseball before, the coaches will be happy to teach them everything they need to know.

Registration is at Little League Field of Dreams located in George Town on the corner of Fairbanks and Aspiration Drive and is from 9am-1pm on Saturday.

There will be an evaluation of skills at the time of signing up so taking gear is available for those who have it. This will help the organisers decide which team is best for the child. Practicising starts mid-January and the league season begins mid-February until the end of May. It’s available for anyone aged between five and 17.

Mia Karapita is the new programme and facilities director for Little League. An accountant by profession, she said: ‘Robbie Cribb is still president of the organisation but I want people to know that I’m there now and all the correspondence, enquiries and questions should be directed to me. We can accommodate everyone who registers. We don’t turn anyone away, whether 300, 500 or 700 turn up we will form enough teams for them. I want to emphasize that we want girls to join as much as boys.’
