A soft opening of the East-West Arterial has been scheduled for today.
One eastbound and one westbound lane, running from Hirst Road in Newlands to the Shamrock Road roundabout (below Mangrove Avenue), will be opened for use.
Until the road is properly lit motorists are cautioned to refrain from using the road after dark and to observe a 40 mph speed limit.
The final phase, running from the Shamrock Road roundabout to the site of the former Selkirk Plaza, is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2008.
The arterial, once completed, is expected to create an alternate, less-congested route for residents commuting from the eastern districts.
