Cardinall festivities kick off Christmas

Residents of Grand Cayman were treated to an early Christmas celebration Saturday when they turned up for the many family oriented festivities centred on Cardinall Avenue, the heart of downtown George Town.

The evening’s programme, sponsored by Kirk Freeport, drew hundreds.

The community event was kick started by a spectacular pyro-musical show, which featured a fireworks display expertly synchronized to music broadcast live on Z99.9 radio. The experience was so enchanting that the crowd broke out in spontaneous applause at different points of the fireworks show.

Santa Claus made his appearance after the fireworks and read the classic story ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to the many eager children perched on the risers.

The evening got sweeter when Santa Claus started handing out bags of candy to the children and a number of sweet-toothed adults, and listened intently to what they wanted for Christmas.

“I checked it twice and almost everybody made it to my Nice list,” said Santa Claus. “The children have all been very polite and well-behaved.”

The First Baptist Church choir, led by Pastor David Jorge, added to the cheerful festivities as they entertained the crowd for the rest of the evening. Many adults enthusiastically sang along with the choir.

“We were happy to have so many families here celebrating Christmas on Cardinall with us,” said Gerald Kirkconnell, managing director of Kirk Freeport.
