Real Estate Company takes pledge

Chamber of Commerce members are stepping up to do their part for Earth Day and the environment.

The Real Estate Company, owned by Mrs. Liz Ross, has signed on as a sponsor of the Chamber’s Earth Day Roadside Clean-up and has also signed the Chamber’s Environmental Pledge.

With an office of only five, The Real Estate Company has already implemented several green initiatives in the office and as part of their work.

‘We have started using 100 per cent recycled paper, low wattage bulbs, used paper for notes and we use a water cooler instead of bottled water. We are also starting a new program providing new home owner fact sheets on how to live ‘green’ with ideas on things you can do around your home to save energy and renewable resources such as shopping bags. We will be providing several reusable shopping bags as closing gifts to all new home owners. We are also providing the green construction ideas to our developer clients on things they can do to help the environment and future home owners while building,’ said Mrs. Ross

The Real Estate Company will have a clean-up team for the Chamber’s Earth Day Roadside Cleanup, which takes place on Saturday, 19 April, from 7am to noon. The team will register for an area that needs a lot of attention.

‘We do not want to do something that is easy. We want to do something that others may overlook… it is too easy to clean your own backyard. We want to volunteer to help others,’ she said.

All businesses and Government agencies are invited to participate and celebrate in the entire Earth Week vision. The Chamber encourages the community to come out and be a part of this important initiative helping to make Cayman a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful place to live.

Residents, schools, businesses and organisations can sign up to organise a team to clean up designated areas on all three islands. The Chamber will provide gloves and garbage bags for all teams and the first 750 volunteers will receive a free Earth Day T-shirt. After the clean-up, all registered volunteers are invited to a free lunch and will have the opportunity to sign the Chamber’s Environmental Pledge.
