Incidents like this may very well become the norm if the general public does not come forward and let the CI Government know that it is wrong; as the law is currently written, it IS legal for an animal to be put to sleep because of its breed.
If something is to be done and the Caymanian society wants to see this barbaric law changed then people must speak out for the equality of all dogs on island, the dogs cannot speak for themselves and the law will not change by itself.
Speak to your MLA, continue to write to the local media, support the online petition (www.petitiononline.com/ckcgcm/petition.html), come out to the dog show and support those who responsibly own restricted breeds. If you are an owner of a dog on the Governments ‘Dangerous Dog’ list, own your animal responsibly and do not let it be the one bad face shown to the public.
For this to change there must be a united effort in the community and everyone must play their part. If no one speaks out then there can be no change! Punish the Deed not the Breed!
