Rotary Central has presented the club’s Vocational Service Award to two outstanding individuals who have contributed significantly to improving their vocations and the communities in which they live and work.
Adrean Russell of dms Organisation is a young Caymanian who is committed to a life of family, community and work.
He has progressed from a sales clerk to floor supervisor and then manager of the Athlete’s Foot, to an accounting clerk in the dms organisation finance department.
During that time he has demonstrated the ability to lead and develop young Caymanians in their respective professions as well as actively developing himself into a progressive challenging field.
He served as a volunteer for Junior Achievement, advising young people on the importance of business decisions and strategic planning in the work environment.
In his role as finance advisor to the Junior Achievers, Adrean leads a small team of achievers through the daily activity of a finance department .
He has represented the Cayman Islands in International Flag Football championships and will represent the country once again at the 2008 International championships.
His commitment to the sport has yielded numerous team and individual championships/recognition as well as providing development and support to the growth of flag football in the Cayman Islands.
George Boldeau, retired, dedicated more than 30 years to education.
He has helped many young Caymanians from all walks of life realise their true potential even after his peers had ‘written off’ these students as being average or below average.
As an example of his work, in his last position as Deputy Principal at the Alternative Education School, his 21 students passed the Common Entrance Exam for UCCI – a first for the school.
These are the same kids who were considered ‘laggards’ in the normal education system! He is an unassuming, modest man who has integrated himself in the community and contributed to its well-being by helping develop young people via his teaching skills.
‘The Rotary Central Board and its members are delighted to recognise the tremendous contributions that the two have made to their chosen professions.
‘They possess outstanding work ethic and a commitment to excellence and are excellent role models,’ said Mr. Wil Pineau, Vocational Services Director for Rotary Central.
